Pointing to the Manama's use of American and British advisors for suppressing Bahrainis, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian further said using such counselors confirms the inefficiency of the presence of the Peninsula Shield Force in Bahrain.
“The hatred of the people of the regional towards historical performance of Britain and the current behavior of the US … will definitely pose serious challenges to the presence of foreign advisors in this country,” a Foreign Ministry statement quoted him as saying on Sunday.
Amir-Abdollahian further stated that the Bahrain government's recourse to violence and mass murder for suppressing people has further complicated the situation.
“The government of Bahrain is expected to rely on its own people and pave the way for national and real dialogue by taking effective and confidence-building measures,” he noted.
The Iranian official also urged the government of Bahrain to stop repressing people, attacking mosques and other religious centers, and the systematic violation of human rights.
Bahraini protesters have been holding anti-government protests since mid-February demanding an end to the rule of Al Khalifa dynasty which they say has instituted despotic governance, discrimination, and the suppression of dissent.
The US-backed regime has met the popular protests with a brutal crackdown, killing scores and arresting hundreds.
Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have severely criticized Bahrain for its violence against protesters as well as doctors, nurses, lawyers and journalists who have voiced support for the protest movement.
