The editorial reads: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has never welcomed sanctions, but in actual terms has used any possibility to counter policies [adopted by the West powers] on imposing sanctions. From three years ago, Iran is not able to use dollar in international trades, the same is true for euro from two years ago."
"In a poignant condition, even Iranian patients who are struggling with cancer are faced with serious problems on their arrival to Europe for medical treatment. They are not able to receive money from banks there. They are pressed by sanctions as well. At the same time, items including weapons are made in Iran not bought from other countries. When Saddam's war crimes against Iranian people had been reached to its climax [during the eight-year war Iraq imposed on Iran], we were confronted with an embargo on buying weapons imposed by the West."
“Regarding political and diplomatic conduct, we should have taken more preemptive measures against any entrance to the British Embassy in Tehran to avoid giving possible pretexts to the enemies. However such decision on taking the best course of action does not imply that our politicians were able to control the public anger [against the British officials],” The editorial adds.
On Tuesday, a group of Basij students entered to two compounds of the British Embassy in Tehran to protest against hostile measures including new economic sanctions taken by the UK against the Islamic Republic.
Later the British government ordered its diplomatic staff to leave Iran and gave a 48-hour deadline to the Iranian embassy staffs to leave the country by Friday afternoon.
