A senior Iranian legislator reiterated peaceful nature of the country's nuclear activities, and asked the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) to recognize Iran's nuclear rights.

Iran's nuclear activities are peaceful, based on the regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and within framework of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Iran will never give up its legal positions and rights, Chairman of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Friday.

He called on the six world powers to adopt a policy of interaction with Tehran, adding that the West must recognize the Islamic Republic's nuclear rights and avoid unilateral policies in negotiations with Iran.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran has transparently declared its principled and logical stances in the past three rounds of negotiations with the West (in Istanbul, Baghdad and Moscow) and two expert-level talks (in Istanbul)," Boroujerdi stressed.

Iran and the Group 5+1 have held several rounds of talks this year, including two days of negotiations in Baghdad in May and a one-day meeting in Istanbul, Turkey, in April.

The latest round of talks between the lead negotiators of Iran and the sextet took place in Moscow in mid June.

In Moscow Tehran's envoys presented undeniable proofs and evidence of Iran's entitlement to the right of nuclear enrichment.

Earlier, Iran's chief negotiator Saeed Jalili said that EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, who presides over delegations of the six world powers in talks with Iran, is due to provide an answer to Iran's offers later this month.

Speaking to reporters during a tour of Iraq, Saeed Jalili elaborated on the contents of the latest round of talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 held in Moscow in June.

"We raised our views about the nuclear issue and Mrs. Ashton asked for some time to provide an answer for Iran after the month of Ramadan (ending on August 19)," Iran's chief negotiator said.
