Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman has denounced the European Union’s support for the Israeli regime, calling on the international community to put an end to Tel Aviv’s crimes.

A statement by EU Foreign Policy chief Catherine Ashton's office on Saturday said she criticized comments by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who called Israel a "cancerous tumor" and an “insult to humanity."

On Wednesday, Ramin Mehmanparast condemned Ashton's statement and called attention to Israel’s “blatant violation of human rights, oppression, and crimes” against the Palestinians in the past six decades.

“The Zionist regime [of Israel] and its Western supporters need to be held accountable by the international community for their behavior,” he stated.

The Iranian official urged international organizations and countries to break their silence on Israeli atrocities.

Mehmanparast further reiterated Tehran’s continued support for the Palestinians’ right to to decide their own fate and establish a Palestinian state.
