Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast says Prince Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah will represent Saudi Arabia in the upcoming summit meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran.

Mehmanparast announced on Saturday that the Saudi prince, who serves as the kingdom’s deputy foreign minister, will take part in the event on behalf of Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.

He also noted that considering the importance of the Tehran summit, the Saudi King is sending Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah as his special envoy.

The 16th summit of the NAM member states will be held in the Iranian capital on August 26-31.

The NAM foreign ministers will arrive in Tehran on Monday and as of Wednesday the Movement’s heads of state will travel to the Iranian capital.

More than 100 countries will partake in NAM’s Tehran summit, with 50 states attending at a high level.

The summit, during which the Islamic Republic will assume the rotating presidency of the movement for three years, will be also attended by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
