Iran Dismisses Media Report on Unilateral Development of Shared Oil Fields
The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly rejected a recent media report alleging that Tehran is developing its shared oil fields with Iraq unilaterally.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast denied some Iraqi media outlets' speculations on the unilateral development of a shared field by Iran, and stressing that Tehran has no problem with its neighbors with regard to the development of oil and gas fields.
"Taking any action in this regard will be based on the decisions made bilaterally with neighboring countries," the official said, adding that coordinating development of shared oil and gas fields with the neighboring countries is on the Foreign Ministry's agenda.
He said issues like shared oil and gas fields, border lines, maritime borders or similar issues are examined during meetings with neighboring countries.
He added the country pursues these cases in legal manner in a bid to both defend the Iranian people's rights and meantime avoid trampling upon the rights of the other countries.
