The Louvre Museum is programmed to host a selection of works in cinema, literature and contemporary arts created by three veteran international artists from Islamic countries.
Nobel Prize-winning Turkish novelist Orhan Pamuk and Lebanese artist Walid Raad are the other artists invited to collaborate in this project.
According to the museum website, the museum’s festival of contemporary Islamic arts titled Cartes Blaches is to provide an opportunity for visitors to review Islamic arts and culture.
The festival will present screening programs of several films by Kiarostami as well as discussion panels running for several days in October and December.
As a filmmaker, painter, designer and photographer, Kiarostami has received many prestigious international awards, including the 1997 Cannes Golden Palm award and the 2008 Glory to the Filmmaker award of the Venice Film Festival.
He has also held a photo exhibition at Beijing's Imperial City Art Museum.
Kiarostami has staged Mozart's comic opera buffa, Cosi Fan Tutte at London's Coliseum Theater and the 2008 Festival of Lyric Art in Aix-en-provence in France.
