“By intimidation and threat, the Zionist regime (of Israel) is trying to pretend that the weakening US role had no effect on the security of this regime and this fear indicates the depth of crisis in this fake regime,” said Vahid Ahmadi, a member of Iran Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, on Tuesday.
Israel has recently stepped up its rhetoric against the Islamic Republic, threatening the country with military action to halt its peaceful nuclear energy program, which Washington and Tel Aviv claim includes a military component.
Iran rejects the allegations, arguing that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
Iranian officials have also promised a crushing response to any act of aggression against the Islamic Republic.
The Iranian lawmaker added that the recent release of an anti-Islam movie in the US created an opportunity for the public opinion to show their hatred for the aggressive policies of the global arrogance.
Anti-US demonstrations, which began on September 11 over the insulting film, have been held across the Muslim and non-Muslim countries, with protesters storming the US embassies and torching the US flags.
