Iran’s Basij volunteer forces have staged a military drill, displaying their defense capabilities near the provincial capital of Karaj.

The annual one-day maneuver was carried out on Friday and was attended by Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad-Ali Jafari.

The Iranian commander highlighted the military capabilities of Iran’s Armed Forces saying “the enemies have used every trick in the book to challenge Iran.”

“Now the agenda for the US and Israel is a threat of war; however, it seems that they have finally realized that even the war rhetoric cannot force Iran and the Islamic Revolution to retreat,” Jafari said, adding, “That’s why they are no longer openly using the war rhetoric as an option.”

The commander of Alborz Province Basij Division also said that the drill aims to reassure the public that the country’s armed forces, including the Basij, are ready to defend them.

“Our volunteer forces proved in the imposed Iraqi war that they will never lay down their arms,” said Brigadier General Bahram Hosseini-Motlaq.

“Today we give our word to our Leader [Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei] and our people that like before we are ready to fight new enemy threats with maximum power and loyalty.”

The Basij volunteer force drill was carried out to mark the 32nd anniversary of the eight-year Iraqi imposed war during the Sacred Defense Week.
