The Iranian oil and gas drilling industry plans to hold its 10th specialized exhibition in the Southwestern city of Ahwaz - the provincial capital of the oil-rich Khuzestan province - concurrent with 33rd birth anniversary of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) in late December.

The announcement was made by NIDC's Research, Technology and Construction Director Mohammad Reza Tahmasbi Birgani in an interview with Shana.

Tahmasbi Birgani reminded that the NIDC was established 33 years ago at the order of the Late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, and added, "Similar to previous the exhibitions, this year's exhibition will be focused on manufacturing parts and equipments, providing commodities, consuming materials and technical services."

"In this year which has been named as 'the Year Of National Production, Supporting Iranian Labor and Capital', the NIDC will unveil a number of strategic equipments of the drilling industry which are being manufactured domestically and through cooperation among NIDC's experts, domestic manufacturers, and academic and research centers," he explained.

He said the NIDC also manufactures parts and equipments in cooperation with the Oil Ministry's research and technology department, which include drilling machines, its side equipments and technical services.

"By implementing these projects, the NIDC is moving towards exports of sophisticated drilling industry's parts and equipments," the official said.

On the achievements of the previous exhibition, he said the drilling industry deals with 25 thousands of highly used parts of which 18 thousands parts have been manufactured domestically, a figure that will rise to 20 thousand by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (i.e. March 20, 2013).

The NIDC is a subsidiary of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) in the upstream sector headquartered in the city of Ahwaz.
