Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani explored avenues for the further expansion of Tehran-Doha relations.

During the meeting held in Doha on Thursday, Salehi and Sheikh Hamad conferred on the latest regional developments, including the current crisis in Syria.

Salehi's visit to Doha is in line with Iran's efforts to find a way for ensure freedom of 48 Iranian pilgrims who were abducted in Syria in August in Syria.

Iran is using all diplomatic, political and security means to release the 48 Iranian pilgrims.

Ever since the abductions took place, the Foreign Ministry and the Iranian embassy in Damascus have been pursuing the fate and release of the kidnapped Iranian nationals through different channels.
