Three Iranian cinematic productions have been selected to compete in different sections of the 48th edition of Chicago International Film Festival.

Mani Haqiqi’s latest film Modest Reception, Meeting Leila by Adel Yaraqi and Under the Colors by Esmail Monsef are Iranian representatives scheduled to be screened at the annual festival.

Haqiqi’s Modest Reception that is to be presented at the main section of the festival recounts the story of a rich couple who distribute plastic bags full of money in the Iranian provinces, a handout aimed purely at degradation.

Yaraqi’s Meeting Leila, selected for the New Directors Competition Section, revolves around a young woman who demands her chain-smoking fiancé to quit smoking before their marriage.

Monsef’s Under the Colors is slated to compete in the Shorts 5: Spotlight Middle East, Shadows and Light Section. The movie is about a mysterious female garment, which is found in a soldier’s garrison

Abbas Kiarostami’s Japanese-language drama Like Someone in Love is also programmed to be presented at the Main Competition section of the festival.

The 2012 Chicago International Film Festival that kicked off on October 11 will come to end on October 25.
