Secretary of Iran's High Council for Human Rights has once again censured the silence of European officials towards major human rights violations by their despotic trading partners while falsely blaming Tehran for rights abuses.

In a Tehran meeting with a visiting delegation of German-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Group on Wednesday, Mohammad-Javad Larijani, who also serves as international advisor to Iran’s Judiciary head, said he was amazed that “Western and European governments” are so concerned over fabricated rights violations by Iran while “maintaining very close ties with the Zionist regime, which is the greatest violator of human rights in the world, and a number of regional countries that lack the slightest level of democracy.”

Referring to a deafening silence towards “hundreds of cases of crimes and human rights violations” committed by allies and strategic trade partners of European countries, including Germany, Larijani added that when Iran takes legal measures against citizens that violate the nation’s laws, it suddenly becomes the target of media and political attacks by Western states and “interestingly, they (the arrested criminals) are turned into human rights advocates and win prizes.”

“It is, therefore, logical that we believe that human rights serve merely as an excuse for adopting hostile policies against Iran, since they (European states) have other objectives in mind,” Larijani emphasized.

The Iranian official further condemned dual policies of Western countries towards Iran’s nuclear energy program, which conforms to regulations of International Atomic Energy Agency and Non-Proliferation Treaty, while ignoring Israel's nuclear activities and the global belief that it possesses hundreds of nuclear warheads.

The German delegation, for its part, expressed its determination to improve and expand friendly relations between Iran and Germany as well as learning the real facts about the Iranian nation, which are not accurately reflected in the German press.
