Iranian graphic designer Mehdi Mehdian has grabbed the special jury prize at the 2012 edition of Trnava Poster Triennial (TPT) competition in Slovakia.

Mehdian took part in the event with presenting four of his works at the Professional section of the competition, Mehr News Agency reported.

He was awarded for his poster that was designed for a play titled Twin staged by Iranian director Mansour Gorji in Tehran in 2009.

Mehdian has participated in many international competitions held in various countries such as Belgium, Taiwan, America, Poland, Russia and France and garnered their praise.


Moreover, a number of his works have been displayed and registered in some museums of other countries.

The jury of this year’s competition selected 16 Iranian graphic designers for the Professional section as well as the country’s seven artists for the Student section.

Some 445 posters were selected from among 1240 works submitted by 389 designers from 33 countries for the 2012 TPT.

The winners were announced during the opening ceremony of the triennial held on November 9, 2012.

Trnava Poster Triennial is a public, non-anonymous international competitive exhibition of posters and complimentary copies.

The eighths Trnava Poster Triennial (TPT) is scheduled to run until February 3, 2013.
