Iran exported 7,291gw/h of electricity to the neighboring countries in the said period, showing a 40.33 percent growth. The country had exported 5,195gw/h electricity to the neighboring nations during the same period last year.
Iran's revenues from power exports exceeded $800 in the last Iranian year (ended March 19).
Also, Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namjou announced a few days ago that the country plans to build several power plants for exporting power supplies to energy-hungry India and Pakistan.
"Given the Pakistani officials' requests, agreements are being struck on the supply of power to Pakistan," Namjou said.
"We have also reached an agreement with New Delhi to build an Indian-financed power plant in Iran to supply power to India," he added.
With the implementation of subsidy reforms law, not only domestic electricity consumption has reduced but also annual growth in electricity demand has been checked, thus paving the way for further export of electricity to the neighboring countries.
Iran has power swap deals with Armenia, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Afghanistan and the autonomous region of Nakhichevan.
