“Putting an end to the foreign military presence in Bahrain and national dialog are the most appropriate political strategies in the ongoing profound crisis in the country,” Amir-Abdollahian said on Wednesday.
He emphasized the significance of completing the trend of reform to resolve the standoff in the Persian Gulf kingdom.
The Iranian official blasted the use of lethal chemical gas against the Bahraini people who are pursuing their demands in a peaceful way.
He warned that the continuation of the military-security approach to the uprising in Bahrain is a mistake.
A popular uprising began in Bahrain in February 2011. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates sent security and military forces to Bahrain upon a request from Manama to help the Bahraini government quash the peaceful protests.
Dozens of people have been killed in the crackdown, and the security forces have arrested hundreds, including doctors and nurses accused of treating injured protesters.
Despite the Al Khalifa regime’s ban on all demonstrations and public gatherings across the state, Bahraini protesters say they remain resolute to continue demonstrations until their demands for the establishment of a democratically elected government are met.
