Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi says Tehran is ready to expand relations with European countries based on mutual respect and trust.

Iran is always ready to develop relations with European countries based on mutual trust, respect, and cooperation and in line with common interests, Salehi said in a Saturday meeting with new Irish Ambassador to Tehran Oliver Grogan.

Salehi said Iran enjoys vast potentials to be used for the expansion of relations with Europe, particularly in the fields of economy and trade.


He described Iran-Ireland relations as good and expressed hope that bilateral ties would further increase.

During the meeting, the Irish ambassador submitted his credentials to Salehi and expressed his country’s readiness for the development of ties with Iran in all areas.

He also reaffirmed his country’s stance on the importance of negotiations as the only solution to settle any issues between Iran and the West.

On Saturday, Salehi also met with new Eritrean Ambassador to Tehran Mohamed Saeed Idris, during which he said Iran was ready to share its experience in trade and economy with Eritrea and called for the development of mutual ties.

The Eritrean ambassador also said his country was keen to expand cooperation with Iran in all areas.
