A collection of calligraphic paintings created by Canada-based Iranian artist Salar Ahmadian is slated to be showcased during an exhibition in Dubai.

The exhibition titled From Past to Present is to display Ahmadian’s traditional Iranian calligraphy artworks with bright and bold colors at Dubai’s Etemad Gallery.

Persian calligraphy as one of the most eye catching and fascinating manifestations of Iranian culture includes various styles.

Nastaliq and Cursive Nastaliq are known as the most attractive Persian calligraphy styles, broadly used in copying Arabic words, romantic and epic Persian poetry and literary manuscripts.

Ahmadian who is also a seasoned sculptor has held many exhibitions at the Orlando Museum of Art, Washington’s Georgetown Gallery, London’s Chelsea Gallery, and Montreux’s La Palais Oriental in Switzerland.

His exhibition in Dubai is scheduled to kick off on January 14 and will run through March 12, 2013.
