An Iranian lawmaker says the US cannot counter Iran's technological strength, despite its inhumane efforts to stop the scientific progress of the Iranian nation.

Iran Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Spokesman Seyyed Hossein Naqavi-Hosseini said on Sunday that the US and Israel have been against an Iran with nuclear technology from the start and have done their best to prevent Tehran from gaining this capability.

“The enmity of the hegemonic world system toward the Iranian people and the Islamic establishment is evident in political circles, international community and legal bodies, and is proven by the assassination and physical elimination of our nuclear scientists by American and Zionist terrorists,” Naqavi-Hosseini said.

The lawmaker added that due to sacrifices made by Iranian nuclear scientists Iran has turned into a nuclear power that no country can confront.

Several Iranian scientists have been assassinated in recent years, including Majid Shahriari (November 2010), Dariush Rezaei-Nejad (July 2011), and Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan (January 2012).

Tehran has repeatedly held Israeli, US and British agents responsible for the assassination of the country's nuclear scientists.

The United States, Israel and some of their allies have falsely accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.

Iran refutes the allegation and argues that as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it is entitled to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
