Iran has exported USD7.85 billion worth of gas condensate from the southern Pars Special Energy Economic Zone in Assaluyeh during the first 11 months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20, 2012).

Managing director of the Pars Special Energy Economic Zone's customs office, Ahmad Pourheidari, announced on Tuesday that Iran has exported 8.01 million tons of condensate over the said period.

He noted that during that period, Iran has also exported over 15 million tons of petrochemical products worth about USD13 billion from the zone, which is located in the southern province of Bushehr.

Light and heavy polyethylene, gas condensate, propane, butane, benzene, and paraxylene were among major products exported during that time span, Pourheidari added.

Countries such as China, Japan, UAE, India, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Turkey, Romania, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Afghanistan have been main destinations for the special zone's exports.

Iran, which sits on the world's second largest natural gas reserves after Russia, has been trying to enhance its gas production by increasing foreign and domestic investments, especially in its South Pars gas field.

Development of Iran’s South Pars gas field, which is shared with Qatar, has been divided into 24 phases. It holds about 14 trillion cubic meters of gas, or about eight percent of the total world reserves, and more than 18 billion barrels of liquefied natural gas resources.
