Chairman of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi and a group of visiting Egyptian scholars underlined the necessity to confront Washington's expansionist policies in the region.

During the meeting held in Tehran on Tuesday evening, Boroujerdi pointed to the high capacities of the two great Muslim civilizations of Iran and Egypt and stressed the necessity to resist against the US and Zionist regime of Israel and their regional allies' expansionist policies.

"The US, as today's sole superpower in the world, has been incapable in the confrontation with the will of the Islamic Ummah (community) and the Islamic Republic of Iran has demonstrated this reality several times," Boroujerdi stated.

He added that Iran can share its invaluable experiences to the Egyptian revolutionaries.

Also during the meeting, head of the Egyptian scholars said that Egyptians honor Iran's resistance against the US.

"We in revolutionary Egypt are in no way satisfied with the US policies and believe that the Zionist regime is the permanent enemy of the Islamic states," the Egyptian scholar said.

After the collapse of Hosni Mubarak's regime, the Iranian and Egyptian officials voiced their interest in the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
