Iranian lawmaker Mohammad-Saleh Jokar says the Syrian army has managed to neutralize the barrage of foreign conspiracies against the Arab country.

“Syrian military achievements in the past 24 months show that the Damascus army is still well-organized,” member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said on Sunday.

The lawmaker added that Syrian military achievements against militants show that Western countries and some Arab states have failed to implement new scenarios against Damascus and spread the Syrian crisis.

“Countless terrorists from around the world enter Syria every day to overthrow the [Bashar al-]Assad's government, but the well-organized Syrian army has prevented the success [of their plots],” the Iranian lawmaker continued.

The Syrian crisis began in March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have lost their lives in the unrest.

The Syrian government says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.

Damascus blames the West and its regional allies Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey for supporting the armed groups.

In addition, several international human rights organizations have accused the militants fighting the Syrian government of committing war crimes.
