The annual output of Iran's petrochemical plants is expected to reach 100 million tons after the commissioning of several projects in the petrochemical sector in the next two years, the National Iranian Petrochemical Company's Director for Planning and Development Ramezan Oladi said.

Addressing a group of petrochemical industries experts, Oladi said 73 petrochemical projects are now underway and under the projects Iran's share in the world petrochemical market will reach 4.9 percent by the end of the 5th Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2010-15).

He said under the projects 60 million tons will be added to the national production capacity.

Oladi expressed the hope that the country would be able to produce up to 100 million tons/year petrochemical products in the next two years.

The official said Iran's share in the Middle-East petrochemical market is 24 percent, which will reach 39 percent in the next two years.

The annual output of Iran's petrochemical plants has reached 57 million tons after commissioning Mehr Mandegar (Lasting Kindness) projects in the petrochemical sector, Head of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Abdolhossein Bayat said in January.

Bayat made the remarks at the opening ceremony of Kermanshah polymer plant in Western Iran.

He noted that Kermanshah polymer plant has increased Iran's annual polymer output to 6.3mln tons, adding that the country's overall petrochemical production capacity now stands at 57mln tons per year.

Bayat said that the private sector has supplied Kermanshah polymer plant with 73 percent of the total $4.24bln investment required for launching the plant.
