He made the remarks addressing the opening ceremony of the 9th International Conference of Mahdism Doctrine which kicked off in Tehran on Sunday morning with participation of several domestic and foreign scholars and experts.
Larijani said that the new Middle East will be built through hard struggles and not by relying on American armaments and the hired killers who are damaging the portrait of true Islamic Jihad.
He said the extremist terrorists are the major cause of misery of Muslims because their actions are triggered by ignorance and desire for adventurism while the Islamic Jihad is inspired by rationality to create an atmosphere of friendship and humanity.
In relevant remarks in April, Supreme Leader's Advisor for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati called on the Muslim nations to maintain unity and keep vigilant against extremist groups who strive to create a rift in the Islamic community.
"Many extremist groups want rift and separation among Islamic nations, thus maintaining unity is one of the most important tasks of Muslims," Valayati, who is also Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening, stressed.
Velayati made the remarks during separate meetings with Russian and Turkish Muslim religious scholars on the sidelines of the 'Muslim Ulema (religious scholars) and Islamic Awakening' conference here in Tehran.
During a meeting with the Grand Mufti of Russia, Skeikh ul-Islam Talgat Tajuddin, Velayati lauded Russian Muslim scholars for their efforts to spread a moderate version of Islam, and said, "Muslims should do their best to prevent extremist and illogical (versions of) Islam."
