The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly rejected a Wednesday report alleging that the country's embassy in Damascus has come under terrorist attack.

"The Iranian embassy in Syria has not been the target of any attack," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Araqchi told FNA Wednesday afternoon.

"Any media report in this regard is baseless," he said, adding that the Iranian mission in the Syrian capital also underlined "the untruthfulness of the report almost an hour ago".

Several media outlets, including the Al-Arabiya, reported earlier today that President Bashar Al-Assad’s house in the neighborhood of al-Maliki as well as the Iranian and Russian embassies in Damascus had been targeted.

A few hours later, President Bashar Assad’s office denied the reports, and said, “All reports on some media outlets about the targeting of the house of President Bashar Assad in Damascus are completely false.”

Later, the Iranian embassy also dismissed the news reports about the terrorist attack on the Iranian mission in Damascus.
