United Nations Undersecretary General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman will arrive in Tehran Sunday night to discuss regional developments with senior Iranian officials, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Araqchi announced on Sunday.

“Feltman is slated to hold talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his deputy for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian,” Araqchi said today, reiterating that the UN undersecretary general will discuss developments in Syria, Egypt, Lebanon and Palestine with senior Iranian officials during his stay in Tehran.

Before joining the United Nations, Feltman served as US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs from August 2009 to June 2012. He was previously the United States Ambassador to Lebanon from July 2004 to January 2008.

Feltman has studied Arabic at the University of Jordan in Amman from 1994 to 1995.
