Iran’s 6-month non-oil exports exceed $17.9 billion

Economy - The Islamic Republic of Iran has exported over $17.9 billion of non-oil goods in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21) despite the US-engineered sanctions against the country.

According to the latest data released by the Iranian Customs Administration, Iran exported $17.972 billion of non-oil commodities, including gas condensates, during the six-month period, marking a 9.41 percent rise in weight and a 13.59 percent decline in value compared to the corresponding period last year. The non-oil exports weighed 41.659 million tons, IRNA reported.

Iran also imported $19.935 billion worth of goods weighing 13.241 million tons in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year.

The figures show a 31.26 percent decline in weight and a 25.4 percent fall in value in the import of non-oil commodities.

Iran exported iron ore valued at $652 million, urea valued at $609 million and methanol, also known as methyl alcohol, valued at $559 million in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year. The three commodities were Iran's main export products, excluding gas condensates and petrochemical products.

Iran also exported $3.385 billion of gas condensates, $4.841 billion of petrochemical products, and $9.746 billion of other goods during the six-month period.

China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, and India were the main importers of non-oil products from Iran. They imported goods from Iran valued at $3.85 billion, $2.868 billion, $1.762 billion, $1.246 billion, and $1.217 billion respectively during the mentioned period.

Iran imported $1.289 billion of rice, $755 million of soy meal, $505 million of corn fodder, $447 million of wheat, and $371 million of vehicles in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year, and these commodities were Iran's main import products.

The United Arab Emirates exported goods valued at $4.006 billion to Iran during the six-month period, making it the leading exporter of non-oil products to Iran. It was followed by China, India, South Korea, and Turkey, which exported goods valued at $3.742 billion, $1.937 billion, $1.744 billion, and $1.724 billion respectively.
