Iran has been selected as the Special Guest Country at the 78th edition of the International Handicrafts Trade Fair, which will held in Florence from April 24 to May 1, 2014.

Magnificent Persian carpets and kilims, along with miniature paintings, hand-blown glassware, and colorful ceramic and tile works will be the highlights of the exhibit inside the area devoted to foreign countries, organizers have announced on the fair website.

Other indigenous items such as embossed works, special fabrics in raw cotton printed with heavy wooden or iron moulds and natural colors, as well as silver, bronze and ceramic handicrafts will also go on display at the exhibit.

In addition, delicious dates, pistachios, saffron and typical Iranian sweets will be offered in this special area.

Iranian Ambassador to Rome Jahanbakhsh Mozaffari expressed his satisfaction over the selection and said, “We are extremely honored and pleased with the presence of Iran as Special Guest Country of the 78th edition of the exhibition.”

“We believe this is a valuable opportunity to better introduce one of the most ancient human civilizations,” he added.

Every year, organizers work together with the sales offices of the diplomatic delegation of the guest country, in order to guarantee a high-quality selection of the typical products belonging to this country.

Iran is considered to be one of the main centers of the world’s handicrafts, as well as a leading country for the quality and variety of its handmade products. Numerous types of artistic crafts such as carpets, metal and ceramic products are native to Iran.
