Hossein Sheikholeslam, advisor to Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on international affairs, said Saturday that a South Korean delegation led by Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Trade and Unification Committee of the Republic of Korea’s National Assembly Ahn Hong-joon would arrive in Tehran for a three-day visit on November 18.
The Iranian lawmaker said that the South Korean lawmakers would hold talks with Larijani and the Chairman of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi during their stay in Tehran.
Sheikholeslam added that a second parliamentary delegation from South Korea would arrive in Tehran between f November 15-18 to meet with Mohammadreza Tabesh, the head of Parliament’s Environment and Sustainable Development Committee, to discuss cooperation on environmental issues.
In January, South Korean President Park Geun-hye hailed her country’s longstanding relations with Iran, stressing that Seoul attaches great significance to the expansion of ties with Tehran in all fields.
In a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Seoul Ahmad Ma’soumifar, Park described the Islamic Republic as one of South Korea’s major trade partners in the Middle East.
Iran is reportedly the fifth largest crude oil supplier to South Korea after Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
