An Iranian former minister has said Dey 9th (Jan 30th) 2009 was the day when Iranians triumphed against the riots of the time.

Mehr News quoted Dr. Mohammad Hosseini, former minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance addressing the great congregation of people of Damqan, ‘Ashura insight’ focused on ‘what happened during the 2009 unrests.’

“Domestic and foreign agents involved during the riot and supported the riot leaders which brought about such a disaster,” Hosseini told the congregation.

“Iranian will never forget Dey 9th victory” he said, “this specific day is recorded in the nation’s history forever.”

Hosseini said that people’s tact and foresight, alongside with their firm stance on Dey 9th rewarded them with the triumph, and “some separated themselves from the riot and came back to the nation,” believing that they were trapped by the conspirators’ sentimentality ruses, unable to assess the situation rationally.

Ex minister added that Iranians’ religious beliefs and Imam Hussein passion made the riot leaders surrender. “Dey 9th is a remembrance reminding us to be always alert to the conspiracies of the enemies,” he added.
