Chinese embassy in Tehran is scheduled to hold Spring Festival (Chinese New Year), displaying the country’s heritage and various works of art for Iranian people.

A number of Chinese customs and beliefs are slated to be introduced at the event that will be held at the embassy on January 16.

The Chinese festival is to show national children plays and entertainments as well as to screen several documentaries depicting Chinese traditions.

The event will also host Chinese cuisine and some traditional plays to present Chinese national culture.

Several Iranian teams in diverse areas are planning to contribute to Chinese Spring Festival.

Iran-China Chamber of Commerce, Friendship Society of Iran-China and Tehran University of Medical Sciences are among the Iranian teams that will take part in the festival.

As one of the traditional Chinese festivals, Chinese Spring Festival has more than 4,000 years of history.

This year’s Chinese Spring Festival, also called Lunar New Year, falls on January 31, 2014.

The festival is the time for the whole families to get together for the annual reunion dinner, which is similar with Christmas Day to the westerners.

Iran and China have had some cultural exchanges in different areas during recent years. Both countries have signed a number of agreements so far to enhance cultural ties between the two nations.
