Iranian Judiciary Chief Sadeq Amoli Larijani warned the country’s security and intelligence forces to safeguard the country's borders against the possible penetration attempts by Takfiri groups.

“The Takfiri and Salafi streams are not at all related to Islam or our Sunni brothers' beliefs, but they are a cult which have been created by the West to weaken the Islamic societies,” Larijani said, addressing a number of Judiciary officials in Tehran on Wednesday.

“We ask the intelligence ministry and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) to keep vigilant against the danger of the infiltration of Takfiri streams into the country and never think that the Takfiri viewpoints are related to the different thinking of Islamic sects; rather they should encounter them in a manner appropriate to the anti-security nature of the streams,” he added.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, senior military aide to the Iranian Supreme Leader Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi warned that Takfiri terrorists are killing Muslims for the sake of Israel’s interests in the region.

“Takfiri groups are advancing Israel’s interests in the Middle East through violence and terrorism,” Major General Rahim Safavi said.

“Through the massacre of innocent people in countries like Syria, Iraq and Bahrain, Takfiri groups are pushing the situation in the region in favor of the Zionist regime (of Israel),” he said.

Also earlier this month, a high-ranking Iranian commander reiterated Tehran’s concern about the spread of extremism and terrorism in the region, and called on certain regional rulers to stop backing the Takfiri and Salafi groups whose criminal acts have set ablaze people's life in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.

Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces for Logistic and Industrial Research General Mohammad Hejazi expressed regret over the killing of innocent people at the hand of Takfiri terrorists in some regional countries, adding, “The country backing Takfiri and Salafi groups will suffer the consequences of this support.”

The Iranian commander said these terrorist acts are the result of the lack of prudence of some regional rulers and will backfire.

Also in January, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif voiced Tehran's concern about the spread of radicalism in the region, stressing that the phenomenon would bring about unpredictable threats to the other parts of world soon.

Speaking at a meeting with Head of Italian Senate Foreign Policy Commission Senator Pier Ferdinando Casini in Tehran, Zarif said that radicalism threatens everybody and no one can claim that it is just a regional problem.

The foreign minister underlined that if there is not enough cooperation, radicalism will spread to other regional countries and we will witness success of radicalism in these states.
