A sum of $102mln worth of goods has been exported to Oman and $63mln has been imported from Oman," TPO's Expert for Oman and Qatar's affairs Massoud Hassani said on Tuesday.
He noted that Iran and Oman can expand their mutual cooperation in trade field due to their proximity.
"Since Sistan and Balouchestan province is close to Oman, we can broaden our relations with that country given the development of infrastructure of Chabahar port," Hassani said.
He underlined that Oman can be used as a bridge for entering markets of Eastern Africa.
"Oman can be used as an alternative market for us and we can transfer some of our trade relations with the United Arab Emirates to Oman," the expert said.
Hassani underlined that given the development of Oman's infrastructure, Iran can cooperate with that country in the field of export of technical-engineering services in the fields of road construction, oil and gas, bridge construction, mines exploration and construction of power plants.
Iran's President Hassan Rouhani left Tehran for Muscat on Wednesday to confer with senior Omani officials on the latest regional and international development as well as new ways to expand the ties between the two Persian Gulf nations.
Iranian officials have repeatedly underlined that they attach great importance to the consolidation of Tehran's relations with the Middle-East countries, specially with the Persian Gulf littoral states, in order to protect and promote peace and security in the region.
