Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Alireza Bigdeli said President Hassan Rouhani has a serious agenda for expanding and enhancing ties and cooperation with Turkey, adding that the two countries plan to sign 6 cooperation agreements during President's Rouhani's Monday visit to Ankara to the same end.

"Owning to their abundant commonalities, the relations between Tehran and Ankara have been expanding since long time ago, while these relations have undergone qualitative development in the last 10 years," Bigdeli told Iran's state-run TV on Sunday.

Yet, he said, the government of President Rouhani has a still more serious view and agenda for consolidating and broadening relations with Ankara.

Bigdeli referred to Rouhani's two-day visit to Turkey which will start on Monday, and said the two countries plan to endorse 6 cooperation agreements in various fields of culture, politics, economy, tourism, post and telegraph, customs and standards and also in the joint production of movies.

He further noted President Rouhani's itinerary during his two-day visit to Turkey, and said the president is scheduled to have meetings with his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"President Rouhani will also meet Iranian expatriates and businessmen living in Turkey, take part in the inauguration ceremony of Iran-Turkey High Cooperation Council and hold meetings with a number of Turkish media directors," Bigdeli added.

The Iranian president is due to start his official visit to Turkey to discuss the latest developments on the international and regional scenes and explore new avenues for reinvigoration of all-out ties.

Iran and Turkey increased their trade transactions in the first two months of 2014 as compared with the figures of the corresponding period in the last year.

The value of trade transactions between Tehran and Ankara hit $2.115bln in January and February, the trade data recently released by the Turkish government said.

The two countries have in recent years increased their cooperation in all the various fields of economy, security, trade, education, energy and culture.

The Iranian and Turkish officials have also stressed the necessity for stronger relations and pursuing the planned increase of mutual trade to $30bln by 2015.
