Deputy Foreign Minister for Afro-Arab Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said there are no plans for the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to visit Saudi Arabia.

Talking to IRNA on Sunday, he made the remarks while commenting on news published by some Arab dailies quoting unnamed Iranian sources as saying that Zarif was preparing for a visit to Riyadh.

He asserted that presently Zarif has no plans to visit the country.

However, he added, Iran has already invited Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal to visit Tehran.

Amir Abdollahian stressed that Tehran welcomes the visit of Saudi foreign minister.

London-based newspaper Al-Hayat which is simultaneously published in Saudi Arabia, recently quoted sources inside Iran as saying that preparations are made for Zarif to visit Riyadh though the date is not fixed yet.
