During the past two months the Zionist regime has bombarded defenseless civilians in Gaza with a destructive power equal to six atomic bombs, Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani said on Saturday.

Addressing the 17th General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentarians Conference on Environment and Development (APPCED), Larijani said during the said period Israel has been dropping various kinds of bombs and explosives on defenseless Gazans from air, sea and land.

 

The 17th APPCED General Assembly opened in Tehran Saturday and will end on Monday.

The gathering aims to discuss issues related to economic development and environmental challenges facing the Asia and Pacific region.

The 46-member APPCED seeks joint measures to address environmental concerns in Asia and the Pacific.

 

Expressing regret over atrocities perpetrated by the Zionist regime against Palestinians, Larijani said, ˈUnfortunately, all these crimes are being committed whilel international forums, particularly the so-called human rights advocates have kept mum in an unprecedented manner.ˈ

 

Over 2,000 civilians mostly children and old persons have been killed and many more injured while heavy damages were also inflicted on urban facilities as well as environment of Gaza.

 

Referring to the ongoing genocide in Gaza as a humanitarian and environmental disaster, Larijani urged APPCED members to use all within their reach to condemn and prevent the crimes.
