The Iranian president is scheduled to travel to Russia on September 29, press tv reported.
The 4th summit of the Caspian Sea littoral states is scheduled to be held in the Russian city of Astrakhan in September 2014.
Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are the littoral states of the Caspian Sea.
The Caspian Sea is the largest enclosed body of water by area, and is variously classed as the world's largest lake or a full-fledged sea.
The issue of the Caspian Sea’s legal regime has gained importance following the breakup of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and the emergence of newly independent states.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is also slated to visit Russia on Friday to discuss international and regional developments, and explore new avenues for expanding all-out ties.
Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanayee said in a statement on Saturday that the Iranian foreign minister is scheduled to meet with his Russian counterpart Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on August 29, and the two sides would spare no efforts to strengthen mutual cooperation in all fields.
The ambassador added that Iran's Foreign Minister plans to visit more European countries in the near future.
Iran and Russia enjoy strong ties in all the various fields, including economy and international cooperation. Iran-Russia trade currently totals $5bln a year, but economists say they can at least quadruple the volume of their trade exchanges.
