Iranian and Nicaraguan officials Wednesday underlined the need for relevant officials in both Tehran and Managua to boost efforts to pave the ground for the development of economic ties.

In a meeting between Head of the Organization for Investment and Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran (OIETAI) Mohammad Khazayee and Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Samuel Santos Lopez, both sides underscored that there is no obstacle to development of relations between the two friendly nations.

Khazayee said Iran is fully ready to pave the ground for expansion of economic ties and trade transactions with Managua.

Heading a political delegation, the Nicaraguan foreign minister arrived in Tehran on Sunday (August 31).

Santos Lopez has since held talks with several Iranian top officials on expansion of mutual cooperation and regional and international developments.

Iran has been seeking to boost its ties with Latin American countries in recent years to the concern of the United States.

The strong and rapidly growing ties between Iran and Latin America have raised eyebrows in the US and its western allies since Tehran and Latin nations have forged an alliance against the imperialist and colonialist powers and are striving hard to reinvigorate their relations with the other independent countries which pursue a line of policy independent from the US.
