Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati in a meeting with members of Kuwait-Iran Friendship Association in Tehran underlined the age-old and cultural relations between Tehran and Kuwait city, and called for the further consolidation of bilateral ties.

"Iran considers no limits for the expansion of ties with Kuwait," Jannati said during the meeting in the Iranian capital on Monday night.

The Iranian culture and Islamic guidance minister called for the expansion of cultural and artistic cooperation between Iran and Kuwait, and said, "Expansion of such relations will result in familiarizing the two nations with the traditions, customs and thoughts of each other and will eventually end in broadening political and economic relations."

Jannati pointed to the role of Kuwait-Iran Friendship Association in the strengthening of bilateral ties, and said, "The efforts made by this association in Kuwait to further cooperation with Iran are praiseworthy."

He said the two sides should now always wait for removal of the problems to reinvigorate their cooperation as they can also make use of other options as well.

He reiterated that the people of Iran and Kuwait have always had good relations and the Kuwaiti ambassador to Iran has played an effective role in this respect.

Head of Kuwait-Iran Friendship Association Abdel Rahman Al-Evazi, for his part, described Iran as an influential and great country in the region, and said, "This association can play a crucial role in the establishment of friendly ties between the two countries."

A delegation from the Kuwait-Iran Friendship Association is in Tehran to confer with senior Iranian officials on the expansion of bilateral ties.

Iran and Kuwait have sought to expand bilateral ties through exchanging several high-ranking delegations in the last few years.

The Iranian minister of culture and Islamic guidance and Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak Hamad al-Sabah in a meeting in Kuwait City late October underlined expansion of ties and cooperation.

During the meeting in the Kuwaiti capital, Jannati and Sheikh al-Sabah underlined the need for the further expansion of bilateral ties between the two countries.

During the meeting, the Iranian culture and Islamic guidance minister said that Iran-Kuwait cooperation would help promote regional peace and stability in line with mutual interests.

Jannati pointed to the status quo of Iran-Kuwait relations, and said, "The expansion of cultural, academic, media and artistic cooperation will pave the way for development of collaboration in other fields."

He reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran was ready to consolidate all-out ties with Kuwait.

Sheikh Jaber, for his part, expressed pleasure with his recent visit to Iran, and said, "The Kuwaiti government is willing to promote ties with Iran."

The Iranian minister of culture and Islamic guidance paid an official visit to Kuwait last month at the invitation of his Kuwaiti counterpart to hold talks with the Arab country's officials.
