Iranian aerospace officials stressed that the rocket carrier that was used for launching the country's new satellite was used for completely peaceful purposes and had nothing to do with military goals.

 Director of space projects at Iran Electronics Industries Company Mehdi Sarvi said that Fajr satellite which was successfully placed into orbit by Safir satellite launcher, serves no military purpose and can be used in the fields of shipping, seas, roads, agricultural and meteorological.

The satellite, completely built by Iranian scientists, was launched on the second day of the national ceremonies marking the 36th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran (1979).

The Iranian satellite was sent into the orbit - at the altitude of 450km - on the back of the home-made Safir-e Fajr launcher.
