According to ISNA, the ensemble performed traditional Persian instrument ‘dotar’ and stick dance.
Stick dance is a form of folk dance found all over Iran, distinguished from other Iranian folk dances in that the dancers carry, and dance with, sticks of wood. Milan Expo, a global event attended by 145 countries and 40 international organizations, opened on May 1 and will continue until October 31.
Institute for the Promotion of Contemporary Arts, affiliated to Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance’s Department of Arts, is representing Iran at Milan Expo 2015.
The expo has cultural, economic and social aspects and countries try to introduce their cultural indicators such as folklore music at the event. Iran’s pavilion in the expo, themed ‘Nutrition, Earth and Energy for Life’, seeks to make visitors familiar with the country’s culture and art.
Performances will be staged by 12 music groups from the provinces of Bushehr, Khorasan (North, South and Razavi), Gilan, Mazandaran and Markazi at the six-month expo to introduce the customs and traditions of different regions of Iran.
