Minister of Health Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi has stressed the need to improve Iran’s pharmaceutical industry as he said neighboring states are waiting for exports of the Iranian products.

The minister stressed that improvement of Iran's medicine sector would be possible through reconstruction of the pharmaceutical industry.

He made the remarks while addressing a ceremony on Wednesday evening held on the occassion of coming into operation to the production line of disposable artificial tears.

The artificial tear is used in people with eye dryness and is a highly consumed product.

The minister said presently, Iran exports a limited amount of its pharmaceutical products to a number of its neighboring countries as well as some farther countries including South Africa and Russia.

Referring to the nuclear talks underway in the Austrian capital between Iran and the six world powers (US, Britain, Russia, France and China plus Germany), Hashemi hoped that Iran’s negotiating team would succeed in lifting sanctions and creating new opportunities for those who are active in the area of pharmaceutical industry.
