Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, plan to meet in Russia's city of Ufa next week, a Kremlin spokesman said.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, plan to meet in Russia's city of Ufa next week, a Kremlin spokesman said.

"Yes, (the meeting is) expected and we really prepare such (a) meeting," Dmitry Peskov was quoted by Reuters as saying on Thursday.

Russia holds the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in the city of Ufa on July 9.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a political, economic and military organization which was founded in 2001 in Shanghai by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, and Mongolia are observer states of the SCO.
