President Hassan Rouhani's Special Advisor Hossein Fereydoun travelled Saturday to Qaemshahr in this northern Iranian province to visit the storm-stricken areas here.

Fereydoun is to attend a meeting being held in Qaemshahr by the crisis management headquarters in the town.

Early on Friday (Sept 2), a severe storm battered two cities of Qaemshahr and Amol in Mazandaran.

One has been killed due to the storm according to head of the Crisis Management Headquarters of Mazandaran Ali Asghar Ahmadi talking to IRNA.

The Friday storm at a speed of 130 km caused serious damage to 1,200 housing units in those areas.

Ahmadi said 25 people have been wounded, adding all are in good conditions.

The storm cut off water and electricity in the mentioned areas, he said, adding 'at present, the area has running water, and electricity will be also connected by the midday.'

Mazandaran weather forecast had reported 4 to 15 degrees decrease in temperature in different regions in this province on Friday.

First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri has held separate telephone conversations with governors general of Mazandaran and Golestan provinces to get informed of the latest situation of the storm-stricken people and areas there and called for giving due services to them.
