President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that liberation of Beit-ul-Muqaddas and restoration of rights of Palestinian people is to be the main priority of regional countries.

The president made the remarks in a meeting with Secretary-General of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) Ramadan Abdullah.

Today the PIJ and other Palestinian resistance groups shoulder a big responsibility to defend the cause of Palestine, Rouhani said.

He said that today the world public opinion has reached the conclusion that the Palestinian people have no way other than Jihad and resistance to the occupying Zionist regime.

He noted that the Zionist rulers have made use of the security challenges across the region over the past two decades to divert public attention from the issue of Palestine.

Reiterating Iran's support for the Palestinian nation since the victory of Islamic Revolution in 1979, Rouhani said that Iran will continue to do so and will spare no effort to support the cause of Palestine.

The PIJ secretary-general, for his part, thanked Iran government for support to the oppressed Palestinian nation and the Resistance Movement.

Abdullah regretted that certain regional countries recognized the Zionist regime and at the same time they stir escalation and conflict in the Middle East to divert public attention from the Palestinian issue.
