Head of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati here on Tuesday called for expansion of cooperation between Iran and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Velayati made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Parliament Speaker of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sefat Suftic.

He underscored that the Bosnian people have a special place in Iranians' hearts.

Touching upon the two countries' cordial relations during the late Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic, he added Suftic's visit to Tehran is an indication of Sarajevo's strong determination to amend mutual cooperation.

Commenting on the current regional developments, Syria in particular, he said the cooperation between Russia and Iran has led to fresh trend of anti-terrorism struggles in the region.

He further commented on the recent trilateral meeting attended by Iranian, Russian and Turkish foreign ministers in Moscow and said it is unprecedented.

Suftic, for his part, described Iran as the friend and brother of Bosnia and Herzegovina and said his country enjoyed stable situation in the region.

The Bosnian official reiterated that Iran played a pivotal role in countering terrorism in the region.

Hailing Iran's success in nuclear talks, he said Iran and P5+1 nuclear agreement is considered as a great achievement for both the country and the world.

Suftic also expressed hope that the level of mutual cooperation could be uplifted in all arenas.

Softic at the head of a parliamentary delegation arrived in Tehran on Sunday, December 18, at the invitation of Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani.

During his 3-day visit to Tehran, the he conferred with Larijani as well as other senior officials on bilateral issues and parliamentary interactions.
