Majlis (Parliament) speaker Ali Larijani criticized US decision to ban entry of citizens from certain countries including Iran, saying Americans are even afraid of their own shadows.

He added US harsh and racist attitude has been hidden behind its populist and demagogic slogans on defending democracy and human rights.

Larijani made the remarks in the Sunday open session of Majlis on US recent decision to ban entry of citizens of certain countries to the United States.

“A safe country wouldn’t take hasty decisions, said Larijani, adding more importantly mentioning Iran’s name under the pretext of terrorist acts concern is nothing but a lame joke,” he added.

“It is crystal clear that Iran has always been standing against terrorists and some countries have also joined Iran,” he said.

“Iran is a safe and independent country, and unlike US unwise policies, is capable of paving the way to develop international interactions,” he said.

“Iran supports peaceful coexistence based on Islamic values and is serious in fighting terrorism,” he added.

US President Donald Trump has recently signed an order based on which US borders will be closed for 4 months on refugees. Visa issuance has also been banned for 7 Muslim countries including Iran for 3 months.

The US decision has widely been criticised by human rights bodies, indicating that Trump has targeted Muslims for their beliefs.
