President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani and Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday vowed to enhance bilateral ties between the two friendly countries.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 13th ECO Summit in Islamabad.

They reiterated their resolve to enhance the level of bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, including trade, economy and energy.

Both leaders have stressed the need for implementation of the agreements signed between the two countries, especially in energy sector.

They have also discussed regional and global developments, along with enhancing cooperation among ECO member-states and ‘Vision 2025’ of the ECO. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor also came under discussion.

President Rouhani reached Pakistan on Tuesday to participate in the 13th ECO Summit in Islamabad.

Earlier, the Iranian President in an address to the opening session of the summit called for enhancing the economic cooperation between the ECO member-states adding that the ECO needs restructuring.
