Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said on Monday that Caspian Sea littoral states should help maintain the security of the Sea and there is no room for interference of other countries in the region.

Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with Azeri Defense Minister Lieutenant General Zakir Hasanov in Tehran on Monday.

'Caspian Sea should be regarded as Sea of peace for economic purposes and the approach of other countries in the region will create problems,' Larijani said.

On expansion of economic and tourism cooperation between the two countries, Larijani said, 'Tehran welcomes your proposal on forming a joint commission to increase the level of military and defensive cooperation.'

Dealing with terrorism is among the most significant issues in the region and it requires all Islamic as well as other countries in the region to be united in fight against them as the enemies of Islam under the guise of Islam and Islamic thoughts seek to promote Islamophobia through assisting terrorist groups, Larijani said.

'Iranian parliamentarians welcome expansion of all-out cooperation with Azerbaijan, and it is expected that the prolonged dispute between Azerbaijan and Armenia to be resolved and both sides' territorial integrities to be preserved,' he said.

Expressing satisfaction over his visit to Iran, the Azeri minister said during the visit the two sides held fruitful talks on the expansion of political and economic relations and it is expected to boost the level of military cooperation.

Azerbaijan has called for formation of a joint commission to examine expansion of military cooperation between the two countries and it is expected the activities of the commission to be resumed very soon.
