Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh said that Iran’s exports registered a 35 percent increase in the year to March 21, 2017, contending that establishment of specialized holding companies is the basic approach for promoting exports.

At the end of the first session of State and Private Sectors’ Dialogue Council in Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mine and Agriculture late on Monday, he added that despite 35 percent rise in exports during the period, most of the plans in the field were not implemented in the absence of specialized holdings.

Referring to Supreme Leader’s emphasis on preventing imports harming domestic production, he said that his ministry has compiled a list which is to be discussed in a cabinet session.

As to the role of free zones, Nematzadeh added that special free trade zones serve as a good means for economic prosperity, easy production and exports.

Meanwhile, Head of Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mine and Agriculture Gholamhossein Shafei told reporters that one of the basic problems facing the country is shortage of local capable companies in the field of exports.

Establishment of holding companies in Tehran and provincial centers is on the agenda and it was agreed to use capacities of specialized firms, he said.
